Rainbow trout has a mild, delicate, almost nutty flavour. The flesh of this trout is tender and pink. Once the meat is cooked, it has a delicate flake and the colour pales.
Trout is an oily fish, similar to salmon in colour and texture. However, trout is lower in fat.
These trout portions come frozen with skin on and vacuum packed, ready for your use.
IMPORTANT: The large portions do contain a pin bone, which can be easily removed with tweezer prior to cooking if preferred.
Like its salmon relative, trout is an extremely versatile fish. Try oven-baking or pan-frying with a variety of seasonings – trout works well with strong, salty flavours such as bacon and chorizo.
